Baby seats to accommodate babies and toddlers under four years can be fitted to the 6 berth Derwent and 4 berth Henty. Children under four years of age cannot travel in the Hi-Top Campervan.

Booster seats to accommodate children between four and six years can be fitted to all GoCheap vehicles. Whilst it is legal for a child between these ages to sit in the front passenger seat, GoCheap does not recommend any child under 8 years sits in the front seat. GoCheap offers baby and booster seats for hire.

Motorhomes and campervans can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. The only exception to this rule is travelling on a well-maintained access road of less than 12 kilometres to recognised campgrounds.

If you want to travel on an unsealed road that is more than 12 kilometres in length to get to a recognised campground, special permission can be arranged pending road condition, weather and distance. Please contact us to discuss.

You can camp at any campervan, motorhome, or holiday parks. Most parks require bookings.

A motorhome or campervan is the perfect way to explore Australia. Our island country has diverse scenery and gorgeous roads perfect for touring. Some parks have private en suite facilities for campervans/motorhome travellers.

Most national parks have areas set aside for camping. There are often showers, toilets, barbecues, and picnic areas. National parks are also beautiful and peaceful locations to stay overnight. However, national parks do not usually offer powered sites.

One bottle should last up to 2 weeks but a lot of cooking could cut this short by a few days. Our 4 and 6 berth motorhomes are supplied with a 9 litre bottle and our Hi-Top campervans with a 4 litre bottle.

GoCheap Motorhomes have two batteries – one to run the engine and the other to operate the living equipment such as the fridge and lights. This battery will remain charged for approximately 12 to 14 hours. If you flatten the battery you will need to plug the vehicle into 240V mains power for the battery to recharge. We recommend you stay in caravan Parks to charge the battery every night or at least every second night.

When a GoCheap Motorhome is not connected to a 240v power supply, everything EXCEPT the house A/C, microwave and the TV/Video runs on 12V. The fridge, water heater, house lights will run off the 12v batteries in the vehicle.

Yes, you need to be plugged in to a powered site to enable you to connect your vehicle to electricity to use the air-conditioning in the living area of the 6 berth model.

No, we do not offer generators as they cannot be used with our vehicles.

Reception is limited outside of the metropolitan areas. Remote areas often have no reception at all.

Except for our 2 Berth Hi-Top, all GoCheap campervans have automatic transmission.

If there is a problem with the vehicle, we provide 24/7 RACT roadside assistance.

Our largest vehicle is the GoCheap 6 berth Derwent which can accommodate a maximum of 6 people.

Hard suitcases are not recommended. We recommend you travel with foldable, soft bags only. Restrict your luggage to a minimum.

We advise that you do, especially during peak periods such as school holidays, Christmas, New Year, public holidays and long weekends.

GPS units are included if you book our hassle free pack, otherwise we offer GPS units for hire at $9.00 per day.

Campervans are hired out on a daily basis.

No, we do not allow animals in the vehicles, except for guide dogs.

GoCheap Campervans does not provide irons or ironing boards. However most camp grounds do have laundry facilities.

No. Smoking is not permitted in any of our vehicles.

GoCheap does not provide hair dryers.

Some fees may apply if you cancel your rental booking. Please refer to GoCheap Campervans Terms and Conditions for full details.

Fuel prices change regularly. To get a general idea of the current fuel prices visit the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission or the Australian Institute of Petroleum.

There is a network of national parks in all regions of the island. National Park entry fees apply – the best deal is to purchase a $50 per vehicle pass that gives unrestricted entry to all parks for eight weeks. 24 hour passes cost $20 per car – but you’ll probably want to visit several parks, so a $50 pass is good value. Passes are available at major national park visitor centre and Tasmanian Visitor Information Network centres.

Check Tourism Tasmania’s detailed and informative website www.discovertasmania.com.au for a host of information.

There are well-equipped and fully serviced caravan parks and campgrounds in major centres and most country towns. Check online for places to stay.

Expect warm, pleasant summers with refreshing breezes in the afternoons. Autumns with mild, calm, sunny weather. Winters with brisk, bracing winds. Green springtime days with clear, sunny skies.

In most areas of the state you’ll be travelling on good, sealed roads. Distances can look deceptively short on the map – but winding roads in highland areas can extend the day’s driving.

Plan for 7 or 10 days – even then you’ll want to return to do the things you’ve missed.
