Perth is a wonderful city with plenty to see within a short distance. On this road trip you will visit coastal towns, wonders of nature and much-much more. Each of these destinations can be linked together to form an eight-day adventure, or if you are set on staying closer to Perth, they can be daytrips for those who like a little bit more time behind the wheel.

 

The Pinnacles Desert

Distance from Perth: 188 Kms   Time: 2 Hours 6 Minutes

What to see: Located in the Nambung National Park, the Pinnacles are a stunning set of limestone formations. There are thousands of these unique limestone formations to see, set among the golden sands. You may even get a glimpse of one of the emus that call the national park home. You are free to walk the Pinnacles tracks, but remember that our campervans cannot be taken on unsealed roads – so please do not drive the pinnacles loop in your campervan.

Avon Valley

Distance from Perth:  127 Kms Time: 1 Hour 32

What to see: The Avon Valley covers seven locales, stretching from New Norcia in the North to Beverly further south. The valley is known for its quaint townships, where you can see pretty wildflowers and rolling hills. For those who prefer to spend their time finding local delicacies, visit the benedictine community of New Norcia and sample the array of artisan cakes and breads that are baked in the monastery’s century-old wood-fired oven.

Busselton

Distance from Perth:  224 Kms Time: 2 Hours 21 Minutes

What to see: Visit the world’s longest wooden pier at Busselton. You can take a leisurely stroll along the pier or take the adorable red 50-seat train to the end. On the pier you can see underwater with the observatory, and you can even enjoy a unique dining experience – underwater, eight meters below the ocean’s surface.

Margaret River

Distance:  273 Kms Time: 2 Hours 57 Minutes

What to see: Margaret River is where you will get to ride your own electric quad bike through 18kms of magnificent Karri Trees. The 90-minute tour is accessible for all ages, as children ride as passengers. iPads are even used to bring to life subjects like shipwrecks and megafauna – a unique experience for all.

Fremantle

Distance:  24 Kms Time: 30 Minutes

What to see: Known to the locals as ‘Freo’, Fremantle is a suburb known for its waterfront, great local beers, and al fresco food. You can explore the local markets that are open from Friday to Sunday, try a craft brew at The Sail and Anchor or explore the Cappuccino strip.

Mandurah

Distance:  71 Kms Time: 57 Minutes

What to see: Mandurah is well worth a visit – filled with real-life giants, a buzzing waterfront and natural landscapes that are home to a variety of wildlife, Mandurah has it all. Check out the region’s iconic sculptures and cheeky marine life or join a cultural tour to learn about the region’s unique ecology and indigenous culture.

Rockingham

Distance:  49 Kms Time: 45 Minutes

What to see: Rockingham is known for its wild beauty and dolphin encounters. Each year from early September to early June pods of dolphins can be found in the ocean surrounding Rockingham. If you are keen to get a closer look there are local tours that will take you out to the clear waters where you can watch the dolphins enjoy the coastal waters.

Swan Valley

Distance:  30 Kms Time: 34 Minutes

What to see: Swan Valley is one of the oldest wine making regions in Australia. Take the time to explore the regions wineries, known for their dry climate wines. If beer is more your style there are also local microbreweries that produce beer and cider, as well as distilleries that produce local rum and vodka. You can also find amazing local cheeses and chocolate, to help you create a perfect charcuterie board.

Returning your campervan

The furthest destination you will visit is Margaret River – which is around 3 hours away from our Perth depot where you will pick up your campervan. All campervans need to be returned at least 1 hour before the branch closes. Make sure that when you are planning your trip you ensure that you have plenty of time to make it safely back to the depot. Otherwise consider spending another night in your destination and head back to the depot the following morning.
